I think this is actually meant to be a sort of joke.

Considering Derpy has a fan base that is probably larger than some of the main characters...Which isn't at all shabby for a background character that was given three lines of dialogue purely as fan-service. Most of the public reactions by viewers to the speaking roll were quite positive.

Though it is lampshading that the voice they went with made her sound...shall we say, "less than mentally able"? I think most still regard her as an affectionate and well meaning klutz though. But I'm sure there are still haters out there.

Well, scratch that I guess. I had NO idea that iTunes or Hasbro had done any of the stuff Ralph mentioned.

Like I said, the reception by fans was basically positive. To include me. I mean, yeah I experimented the mild disappointment that anyone feels when a revealed voice isn't precisely what they were expecting to hear, but that happens any time I find out a character isn't being voiced by Liam Neeson...
