"And don't Catholics worship Mary? And not believe in the Holy Spirit described in the Bible? That was my understanding."

The Catholics are very firm on the point that they do not worship Mary but the prayer Hale Mary still makes me uncomfortable. They say it is just like asking anyone else to pray for them. They most certainly do believe in the Holy Spirit and some of the stuff they believe they believe because they feel the Holy Spirit told certain people this that or the other thing.

The Crusades has a lot to do the the expansion of Islam, when Nicea was conquered and Spain in invaded I can understand why Europe felt threated. But I agree quite political.

They think she is special because she bore Christ, when the Bible pretty much says the opposite, except that she was s good girl, more or less, from memory. THey don't believe in, or at least don't practice, baptism of the Holy Spirit, phrophetic stuff etc as described in the New Testament, anymore at least. Aside from the Spirit-filled branch which has probably been ex-communicated by now for all I know.

I think being Christ's mother is pretty special.

I don't know what you are talking about "practicing baptism of the Holy Spirit". Are you Pentecostal?

And it is pretty darn special, but she isn't.
